The Weekend is Here!

There is something awesome about Fridays. It is the end of the week and the gateway to the wonderful weekend. This being my first weekend home in a while, I am looking forward to lots of little things this weekend:

Doing some spring cleaning around the house.
Pulling out my spring/summer duds and packing away the heavy sweaters.
Finishing a good book that I have been enjoying.
Catching up on sleep and taking a few naps.
Getting in some yoga and a little cardio on my own time.
Baking treats for my grandfathers 87th birthday.
Celebrating said birthday with my family.
Writing a workshop or two for next weekend’s trip to Denver.
Drinking too much espresso in my favorite chair.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

I saw this image and thought it was perfect to celebrate National Volunteer Week! There is something so meaningful about donating your time and talents to help others, studies show that it even increases your own happiness. I spend my free time serving as a volunteer for Kappa Kappa Gamma and have never regretted one second spent with the active and alumnae women of this amazing organization. It truly allows me to give back what they have given me.

My sister sent this to me this morning and said it made her think of me:

“distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. it is for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for the little time with the one they love. it is for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough.”

These words really spoke to me and as I count down the minutes til a weekend with my main squeeze, I can’t help but agree. This isn’t easy, this isn’t fun, but boy is it worth it.
